Woodie’s Wash Shack, a local, family-owned car wash, is collecting donations at all of their wash locations for Hurricane Ian Relief during the entire month of October.
The car wash is partnering with the Pasco County Rotary Club District 6950, according to Jake DeGeare, marketing director at Woodie’s Wash Shack.
The items collected will be brought to Fort Myers and distributed to those affected by Hurricane Ian.
“I am pleasantly surprised with the level of participation we’ve seen in this relief drive,” DeGeare said, “So much so, that we’ve had to make multiple trips! It’s great to see Tampa Bay rise to the occasion by donating the items needed in Fort Myers.”
Throughout the 10 Woodie’s Wash Shack locations, thousands of pounds of items have been donated, according to DeGeare.
One donator, Stanley Goldman, brought over $500 worth of items to the Woodie’s Wash Shack located on Ulmerton Road in Largo, Florida.
Woodie’s Wash Shack offered a free 6-month membership to Goldman for his generosity.
“As the official car wash of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, we believe in standing with the ‘Florida Strong’ movement,” DeGeare said, “Hurricane Ian could have just as easily stayed on its path to devastate Tampa Bay. We wanted to do right by our fellow Floridians and exemplify our mission statement by truly making a difference in the lives of others.”
DeGeare went on to explain that Woodie’s Wash Shack values “leading by action and not just by words.”
Items are still being accepted at every Woodie’s Wash Shack location. The list of hurricane relief items needed can be found on Woodie’s Wash Shack’s website.
